Jean Pierre Alexis Adolphe Laffiteau's Lefaucheux Trademark Certificates
Description
On November 29, 1865, Jean Pierre Alexis Adolphe Laffiteau registered two trademarks for the Lefaucheux family at the Tribunal de Commerce de Paris. These trademarks, numbered 7893 and 7894, were designed to protect the brand identity and ensure the authenticity of Lefaucheux firearms. Certificate number 7893 featured the inscription "LEFAUCHEUX" with a stylized "LF" emblem, while certificate number 7894 bore the same inscription with a unique insignia. These marks symbolized the quality and innovation of the Lefaucheux brand and safeguarded its reputation in a competitive market.
Jean Pierre Alexis Adolphe Laffiteau, born on February 23, 1829, in Tonneins, Lot-et-Garonne, was deeply intertwined with the Lefaucheux legacy through his marriage to Constance Casimire Lefaucheux, the eldest daughter of Casimir Lefaucheux. This union on February 7, 1859, positioned Laffiteau at the helm of the Lefaucheux business. After Casimir Lefaucheux's passing, Laffiteau took over the management, navigating the company through an era of innovation and change. The store at 37 rue Vivienne thrived under his strategic vision, maintaining the high standards and reputation of Lefaucheux products.
Laffiteau's leadership ensured the continued success of the Lefaucheux brand, with the business later transitioning to a partnership with Henri Rieger in 1873, under the name Maison Lefaucheux. Even after Laffiteau stepped down in 1867, his influence persisted, ensuring the Lefaucheux name remained synonymous with excellence and authenticity. His strategic trademark registrations and dedicated stewardship left an enduring legacy in the history of firearms.
