J. Salle, Fabricant d'armes, à Marseille - Testimonial
Description
Having learned in 1834 that there was a new system of gun called Lefaucheux, loading from the rear, I hastened to acquire one, and after having examined it piece by piece and conducted experiments, I recognized in the simplicity of its mechanism all the advantages a hunter could desire: quick and easy loading, accurate range, sturdiness, and the absence of the inconvenience of washing the barrel, a brush passed through sufficing to restore its initial polish. Recognizing all these qualities, and anticipating that this gun would soon achieve great success, I hastened to visit various arms factories to ensure there was no better system. But, after a two-month stay in the capital, in St. Etienne and in Liège, and after examining with the utmost scrupulous attention all the known systems to date of guns loading from the rear, my opinion is that the Lefaucheux arm is the best, the most solid and the simplest. I have therefore immediately made arrangements to exploit this system in Marseille for the duration of the patent, and to sell the assortment entrusted to me at 5.070 above the prices quoted by the inventor.
