Description
I purchased, seven to eight months ago, a two-shot gun of the Lefaucheux system: this excellent weapon has all the advantages of the best non-break-action guns, since it can be loaded with a ramrod when out of cartridges, and it offers immense advantages to hunters, with a breech that allows the weapon to be loaded from behind with speed, quickness, regardless of the weather, day or even night; its range is extremely extended and accurate, the shots are lively and terrible. I have noticed that the wounds made on animals felled by the hunter's lead were deeper than those by ordinary guns, which I attribute to the circumstance that the charge is forced. I think that Mr. Lefaucheux's gun is the best, the safest, and the most convenient that has been conceived to date, especially after the use of the new cartridge, which prevents any kind of spitting. This gun seems to me destined to replace all other hunting weapons, as soon as it is sufficiently known.
